How Can I Determine if This Device Is Right for Me?

Choosing the right treatment option is an important decision. tVNS® E is a certified medical device that is approved under the European Medical Device Regulation (EU-MDR 2017/745) for treating a range of conditions, including epilepsy, depression, migraines, and more. However, whether it is the right fit for you depends on several factors.

Check if tVNS® E is Approved for Your Condition #

tVNS® E is certified as a class IIa medical device under the EU-MDR and indicated for the treatment of various neurological, psychiatric, and chronic conditions. These include:

  • Anxiety
  • Atrial Fibrillation
  • Autism
  • Cognitive Impairment
  • Depression
  • Epilepsy
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) (including Crohn’s Disease & Ulcerative Colitis)
  • Systemic Sclerosis
  • Migraines
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS)
  • Sleep Disorders
  • Tinnitus

If you are considering tVNS® E for one of these conditions, it may be a suitable option for you. If your condition is not listed, we recommend speaking with your doctor to determine if tVNS® E may still be beneficial in your case.

Consider Whether You Meet the Safety Criteria #

While tVNS® E is safe for most people, there are some situations where it may not be suitable:

  • Pregnant women should not use the device.
  • If you have a pacemaker, cochlear implant or implanted medical device, tVNS® is not suitable for you.
  • If you have an active infection or open wounds near the stimulation site, you should wait until the area has healed before using the device.
  • People with cerebral shunts (e.g. for the treatment of hydrocephalus) should not use the device.

Assess Your Treatment Goals #

tVNS® is not an acute treatment, meaning it does not provide immediate effects. It is a long-term therapy designed to gradually improve symptoms over weeks or months. Consistency is key—to see results, you will need to commit to daily stimulation sessions of at least 4 hours per day for several weeks.

If you are looking for a non-invasive, medication-free, and surgery-free treatment option that you can integrate into your daily routine, tVNS® may be a great fit.

Speak with Your Healthcare Provider #

We always recommend discussing any new treatment with your doctor, especially if you are currently on medication or undergoing other therapies. tVNS® is often used alongside traditional treatments, such as medications or physical therapy, rather than as a replacement. Your doctor can help determine whether tVNS® aligns with your overall treatment plan.

Try Before You Buy (Germany & Austria Only) #

If you are located in Germany or Austria, you can try tVNS® E through our Try-It Program, which allows you to use the device for 180 days before deciding whether to purchase it.

If you are still unsure whether tVNS® is right for you, contact our team for more information. We are happy to help answer any questions and provide guidance on whether tVNS® might be a suitable option for your condition.
